Fivetenburger

What is this? Two food posts in a day? Two food trucks? The sheer madness…

Yes, I went to food trucks for lunch and for dinner today. Yes, I realize that eating out too often is bad for your health. But I have a new food blog now. Need to keep readers happy (or angry, depending on the time of night). Justification for the win.

After work, I stopped by Off the Grid, Berkeley’s own weekly food truck rally. There were eight (!) food trucks at the Gourmet Ghetto area – I was quickly overwhelmed by the throngs of people, but the aroma of various foods was irresistible and pulled me into the crowd.

Karl decided to check out the food, too, and we both lined up for Fivetenburger. It was definitely one of the more popular food trucks, and we waited a good 25 minutes before finally placing our orders, and another 10 minutes for our food, made fresh to order.

The wait was completely worth it – the patty was juicy and tender, on the larger side of the patty scale. The buns were soft and flavorful. The condiments and Swiss cheese sealed the deal. This was a really good burger.

It was the garlic fries, however, that stood out. They deceivingly looked like normal fries from your grocery freezer section, but one bite and you’ll know they’re legit. Cooked in garlic oil, the fries pack a ton of flavor.

I can’t wait until next Wednesday, when Off the Grid returns to Berkeley. I’ve decided that I’ll be coming back, and I already have several different food trucks in mind that I want to try.
