Each year, my business club ABA volunteers to file taxes for low-income families in Oakland Chinatown. VITA, as it’s called, would not be complete without a foray to the local restaurants for some cheap and authentic dim sum.
A perennial favorite among ABA’ers, Sun Sing Pastry Dim Sum offers fresh, tasty, and cheap dim sum in a casual, bakery-like setting. There’s usually a small line going out the door, and you can see all the treats they have to offer through the window and the lit-up trays.
I ordered the BBQ pork bun, egg tart, a couple of dumplings, and a pineapple bun. When the lady rang my order up, I did a double take. “All that for $3.60?”
Now if that isn’t a good deal, I don’t know what is. And for the taste? Delicious, no doubt about it.
