Hae Jong Chon Korean BBQ Restaurant

SoCal, the land of amazing Asian food. Pretty much every Asian food hub has a popular AYCE (all-you-can-eat) Korean BBQ restaurant, some as low as $10 for dinner (ridiculously cheap, I know). But to get to the really good stuff, you can’t go wrong with K-Town in LA, where there’s sometimes multiple AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants along a single block.

Hae Jong Chon Korean BBQ Restaurant is definitely one of the most popular KBBQ places on 6th Street, the food avenue of K-Town with restaurants and cafes spanning several city blocks. My friends and I went on a Saturday night, and this place wins my award for longest wait – almost 2 hours around dinner time. In fact, we had enough time to chill and drink tea at a cafe across the street.

But still, the wait was certainly worth it. When the hostess finally called our party, we were seated in front of a stone grill, quite a change from the usual aluminum variant. The meats came quickly, fresh and of high-quality. There were 12 types of meats we could order, with our favorites being Black Angus beef brisket, beef short rib, beef tongue, and kimchi pancakes. As an added bonus, the restaurant offers kimchi fried rice, cooked fresh on the stone grill, at the end of every meal. At the end of our stay, we were full beyond belief – got our $17.99 money’s worth, for sure!
