Macarons are all the rage these days, and apart from the macarons at Masse’s Pastries in Berkeley, I’ve never had the chance to try them in SoCal. Luckily, bakeries selling macarons are quite widespread in LA, too.
A family friend treated us to a box of six macarons from the well-known ‘Lette Macarons in Pasadena. The macarons came in a nice little box, a rainbow of colors, and each one was a unique flavor. ‘Lette was started by an acclaimed French pastry chef in Beverly Hills – and quality and style seem to be their priority, definitely a good thing.
I tried the Earl Grey Tea and Caribbean Chocolate macarons – delicious. They were definitely flavorful but not overpowering, a bit on the sweeter side but I’m a certified sweet tooth, so I wasn’t complaining. Overall the macarons made for an excellent dessert after a filling lunch.
