I’ve had my fair share of tofu soup, and let me tell you, there’s nothing that beats a hearty serving of hot tofu soup, especially on a cold winter day, even in SoCal.
A Ri Rang Tofu House is located in the heart of San Gabriel Valley and touts itself as a modern tofu house with traditional and new recipes, sort of a best of both worlds. I definitely got a bit of that vibe – the restaurant itself was very modern, and the waitresses took down our orders with pen and pad writing in Korean.
I was extra hungry, so I ordered a combination – Grilled Spicy Chicken and Beef Tofu Soup. Both came piping hot in the usual sizzling stone plates, which kept the food tasting warm and delicious. The rice also came in a clay pot, which meant crispy bits at the bottom, definitely a nice little touch. Both the chicken and tofu soup were fully flavored, and I enjoyed every bite. They didn’t skimp on the tofu and beef in the soup, so bonus points for that.
Overall, a great place to visit for some fresh and authentic Korean food, especially if you’re craving something soup-y and warm for those chillier-than-normal days!
