I’m always excited to find great restaurants in Berkeley, especially ones that are a bit further out. There are usually more Berkeley residents at these types of restaurants, and the vibe is different than your usual campus eateries. I like the change in scenery every once in a while.
I’d heard great things about 900 Grayson and wanted to try out the food. The drive took 10ish minutes from campus, so definitely not too far out, and the restaurant was located at – you guessed it – 900 Grayson St. The location was pretty nondescript but I appreciated the cozy feeling of the restaurant.
I ordered a popular menu item, the Demon Lover (spicy buttermilk fried chicken, buttermilk waffle, cream gravy, and maple syrup), and it didn’t disappoint. One of the best fried chickens I’ve had, and the waffle was pretty good, too. But the best part was definitely the cream gravy – it was rich, flavorful, simply amazing! I couldn’t stop eating it with the chicken.
Definitely one of the most complete meals in terms of taste, variety, and value – I wouldn’t be surprised to find myself back here again soon.
