My friends and I spent the past weekend at Tahoe. We had a blast snowboarding and chilling, but we had just a good a time exploring and discovering new eateries in the area.
Fire Sign Cafe is a family-run business (since 1978!) located in Tahoe City, close to Homewood Mountain Ski Resort. It was brunch time on a Saturday, and we were absolutely famished. After a ten-minute wait, we were seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant and ordered our food.
For me, it was a toss-up between the Eggs Benedict and Joe’s Special (three eggs scrambled with ground beef, onion, spinach, mushrooms, jack cheese, garlic & Italian spices). Since I was really hungry, I went with Joe’s. The dish arrived piping hot with home-fried potatoes and freshly-baked (and still warm) coffee cake.
Wow, what a meal! The scrambled eggs were cooked just right, with a lot of flavor, and the coffee cake was amazingly tasty. Even though the food didn’t seem like much at first, I realized that they fit a huge portion into a smaller plate, so I was quite full by the time we left the restaurant.
All in all, a wonderful brunch place to hit up the next time you’re on your way to snowboard in Tahoe!
