Sanraku

It’s my third week living in San Francisco, and tonight marks the first time I’ve tried a sushi place in the city in recent memory. My roommates and some neighbor-friends stopped by a sushi restaurant near our apartment in the Lower Nob Hill area after work, and we got to spend some time relaxing, chatting, and enjoying good food.

Sanraku was a smaller restaurant with some standard decorations, nothing out of the ordinary for a sushi restaurant. I order the Triple Spicy roll, and when it came out I was intrigued by the setup – sushi with tuna, plus wasabi-infused pickles on top, along with some sauce. The tuna was pretty fresh, and each bite of sushi came with a kick from the wasabi. Normally I’m not a huge fan of wasabi, but in this case I thought it worked well with the tuna and pickles.

Service was a bit slow but the food was good overall. My friends ordered everything from sashimi to teriyaki combos, and everything came out piping hot and fresh. With a pretty good first experience at a sushi restaurant, I’m excited to try out even more sushi places in the city!
